The Great British Insulation Scheme for insulation grants in Scotland
The Great British Insulation Scheme is a government-funded initiative designed to provide assistance to homeowners who are not currently benefiting from the ECO scheme. Its primary objective is to upgrade the energy efficiency of homes across the UK by providing insulation, particularly to those in the lower Council Tax bands who are the most vulnerable and living in the least energy-efficient homes. This new scheme is applicable to households with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D or lower in Scotland, and is set to run from March 2023 until April 2026. By participating in the scheme, homeowners can expect to save approximately £300-£400 annually on energy bills.
What is the Great British Insulation Scheme?
The Great British Insulation Scheme is designed to be complementary to the current ECO scheme, which is known as ECO4. The scheme will help install energy efficient measures that will lower your energy usage and save money on your bills. The scheme was launched in Spring 2023 and will run until 2026. The government believe the scheme will save households on average £350 a year.
Will The Great British insulation Scheme help lower my costs?
Making all homes more energy efficient is the best way of cutting down on your household energy use and reducing heating costs. Insulation measures are included within this scheme and will help to reduce heat loss and save money on your heating bills. This is because insulation keeps heat from escaping through your loft, floors and walls.

Loft insulation in Scotland
Did you know that a typical home each year without insulation can lose 25% of its heat through its roof alone?
Adding insulation to your loft will help you keep your home warmer, wasting less energy and lowering your home’s carbon emissions while making that saving on your annual bills.
Cavity wall insulation in Scotland
Cavity wall insulation is one of the best and most affordable ways to improve your home’s energy efficiency, and we can help you have it installed using the scheme.
Insulating the cavity space between the outside and inside wall not only adds a barrier to stop the cold from coming in, but also stops your heat from escaping out through your walls.
Why I should I insulate my home?
Insulating your home has numerous benefits of course as well as the money saving on your ongoing energy costs, including improved health, prevention of damp and mould, future-proofing your home, and reduced carbon emissions.
- Improved health: Homes with good insulation contribute to better indoor air quality, which can improve your overall health.
- Damp prevention: Insulation can help prevent damp and mould, which can be harmful to both your health and the structure of your home.
- Future-proofing: Insulating your home can prepare it for future heating changes and advancements in technology.
- Reduced carbon emissions: Insulation reduces the amount of energy needed to heat your home, resulting in a decrease in your carbon emissions.
- Energy bill savings: Proper insulation reduces the amount of energy needed to heat your home, leading to significant savings on energy bills over time.
